Im too into this blog stuff....

Seriously, but i think its due to the freedom. Forums can get congested and are not always the best for sharing all of the meaningful yet boring stuff that one does. Anyway heres a pic of Charlies "murdered" out pinto. I think it will be pretty rad.

I fabbed her up a nice 19mm intake with one of my custom flanges. Nice tig-ing with none of that messy mig stuff those other guy do. Want one? Ask me, it would cost half as much than the others and look nicer.

  2. fighting words!

    Can you do a 24mm for a mk80?

  3. Nick, I thought you already ordered an intake?1

How much are we talking here? I need an intake for one of those weird 65cc kits that 1977 has for puchs. You know the ones with the 3 bolt holes for the intake?

  5. nice! i'd also be real into a 19/18 4 petal polini intake. bonus points if it can be setup for my clamp-on 18 mikuni, but not necessary. would fin cutting be necessary?

  6. There are always some variables. If you run one straight out on a polini im sure you would have to cut fins. If you have it curve out to the right or left you would not have to deal with that. I might go and pick up a junk polini cylinder and do a little testing. John, id need a gasket from the kit to make a flange. Zack, a true 24 intake would not fit between the intake studs on the mk80. I just tried on codys bike but talked him out of using those $20 mikunis and into a 19 del with a 19 intake. If only those damn studs came out you could use allens. There is a limitation with those, but you may be able to flare it... Nick, are you wanting one that kicks to the side? I could probably sling one out in the next day to get you up and running.

  7. yeah, you have to hack a bunch of cylinder and head fins on the straight out intake included with the malossi 4 petal reed block. i'd love one that curves back and throws the carb to the side or back. here's the ones motomatic made: http://motomaticmopeds.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/IMG_1357_2.jpg

  9. hmm, alright, that might actually be better. I've got either the flatslide or just a 19 phbg. I'm not quite there yet (its going on the derb), but I'll hit you up when its closer.

  10. Looks sick man, nice welds. I am actually in the process of making a custom 19mm intake for myself. I got the flanges made (http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL608/2769159/5551892/383916500.jpg), but I can't for the life of me find any 19mm ID steel piping. Where did you get yours (if you don't mind me asking)?

  11. I just placed an order for some 19mm and 24mm mandrel bent tubing from a local place. Also Im picking up more goodies from the water jet man as well. Be prepared for some options. Your best bet for cheap tubing is handlebars or exhaust, 7/8 bars have a 3/4 id. 3/4=19mm, close enough.

  12. Thanks for the info! I actually found a site that sells steel piping in 2ft sections nearly perfect for the application: 1" OD, .120" wall, .76" (approx 19.3mm) ID.

  13. Thats an awfuly thick wall, nearly 1/8" wall. Your not going to be able to get a tight radius in that. Plus you will have some clearance issues with hardware on metra style intakes.

  14. You don't think so? I was thinking of grinding away some of the outer wall to have a little more room for welding and hope that the bends would work.

When I tried to put 7/8" pipe in the rubber coupler it seemed kinda loose, definitely not as snug as the fitment to the carb. I'd just be worried about leaks. Do you know if 7/8" works out ok?

  15. 7/8 works fine from bars. Just use a clamp with the coupler or switch to rubber hose (couplers dont last long).
